We are living in some of the weirdest and scariest times we’ve known in our lifetime. Here in Australia we’ve had massive bushfires, choking smoke, ark inducing floods and now the Corona virus. I know everyone is worried with what’s happening in the world, and yes, I might be crazy, but I have to look for positives in all this chaos. I’m choosing to look at it like this.. Just my simple take on what’s happening right now so bear with me.
You know how when someone breaks a leg or gets sick, we say.. Oh well the universe will find a way to make you rest if you don’t listen to your body?…. Well what if the universe has said that the whole world needs a bit of a time out right now. A bit of breathing space. A bit of self care. A bit of time for self reflection. We live in a society where there is never time to just be.. We value the idea of wearing ourselves into complete exhaustion and we need to be available to everyone 24/7. Well, perhaps the universe has knocked the world onto it’s bum to give it time to rest and heal.
I know it’s tough and dangerous, especially to those with other health issues, I’m not discounting that for one moment as I’m in that category too. The economies of the world are taking a beating.. The illness and subsequent deaths are absolutely heartbreaking. It all seems so senseless and like nothing good can come of it. But maybe we’re being reminded that we have to start caring more for those in our society who ARE weaker. Perhaps this mind set we have that strength is the be all and end all, is being challenged right now and we’re being forced to look out for the weaker in our society. What if we’re being called on to be more kind. It’s a long time since we valued kindness and love over strength and power. Our selfishness is being highlighted as never before with the greed, panic buying and careless stupidity. We haven’t been forced to look at ourselves so clearly for a very long time. It’s like the universe is suddenly holding a mirror up to us and saying “have a long, hard look at yourselves”. And on the whole, there’s not a lot to be proud of right now. Mother Earth must be weeping.
So here’s what I think and even if you disagree, perhaps you can challenge yourself to try to see where I’m coming from… Corona means crown or ring of light so what if this is more of a gift than a punishment? Perhaps this is a way of changing our world in a way we could never have done by ourselves. Maybe, just maybe the world is being given the opportunity to rest and heal which it so sorely needs. Things desperately need to change in our world right now and I’m choosing to see this as an opportunity for that change.
